Our ‘Steampunkalia – a Splendid Steampunk Christmas’ event on Saturday 8 December 2018 is proving to be very popular, and as such, we have extended it to the whole weekend, with engines running on both days (Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 December 2018).
We are very sorry to announce the death of Richard F Potter on Tuesday 31 July 2018, aged 87. Until May 2018 and his reluctant retirement due to ill health, Richard dedicated over 50 years’ service to the Society and the Museum.
To celebrate Nottinghamshire Sporting Heritage Day we held #RaleighRally, a fantastic gathering of vintage and veteran bikes in our Courtyard, focusing on local cycling heroes such as Reg Harris, Lloyd Binch and Raleigh UK. We were so pleased that so many enthusiasts turned out in force with such a huge variety of very special bikes.
The Lord Mayor of Nottingham gave a lovely opening speech full of anecdotes and memories before handing over to Richard Upton, who gave our guests a really informative 30-minute talk on the Black Boy Hotel exhibition and his research.
